Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus, Vol. 1 by Jack Kirby

Even more poignant, however, is Darkseid's seeming acceptance of Orion, going so far as to kill his assistant Desaad for plotting against Orion. In New Gods, Orion finally accepts aloud that Darkseid is his father, the issue with which Orion has struggled throughout the series. When Mark Moonrider asks Devilance whether he really wants to fight an endless war, it's a summary of the Forever People thus far, and fitting that they end up on a peaceful planet all their own. The Forever People, who've tried to uphold their vow of non-violence throughout their time on Earth, face in the end Devilance the Pursuer, whose own raison d'etre is to cause violence as he goes. It's obvious that throughout it all, Kirby never lost sight of the overriding themes inherit in each of his Fourth World series. In fact, if you tilt your head and squint a little bit, I'd argue there are moments in this fourth volume that almost feel like conclusion. The other three volumes in the set have stories from the above series and from Mister Miracle, DC Graphic Novels, also Kirby's the Name, a self portrait and Infinity Man, This is Lightray, etc., also all in full color throughout, each containing about (15) individual comics with other original pencil pages from Jack Kirby, Mike Royer's orginal inks, who's who profiles, etc.I'd like to think that the Fourth World didn't come to a screeching halt, as long-time Jack Kirby assistant Mark Evanier says it did in his afterword to the Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus Volume 4 (even though indeed it did). 1971, Orion Fights for Earth from the New Gods #1 Feb. 1970, In Search of a Dream, from The Fovever People #1 feb. 1970, The Mountain of Judgement, same comic, #134, Dec. 1 include The Newsboy Legion from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #135, Oct. 1 inked by Vince Colletta, containing (18) complete comics, concept drawings of the New Gods and an afterword by Mark Evanier. Each volume about 400 pages with comics in full color throughout with introductions by the above authors, all stories written and pencilled by Jack Kirby, Vol. Dust jackets are as new also, now wrapped in protective archival clear covers. Bindings are solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exteriors show no blemishes, text/interior are clean and free of marking of any kind. Books in this four volume set are in excellent condition as new in every respect. Kirby, Jack, Vince Colletta Neal Adams Don Heck Mike Royer, (illustrator).
